Overview

Our Clinical Doctorate is the only one of its kind in Scotland, tailored to the needs of nurses, midwives and allied health professionals – UK wide and internationally. The course is practice-focused and has been designed to prepare you for leadership roles in the healthcare sector.

If you’re passionate about improving patient care, whilst retaining a clinical focus, this course is designed for you. You’ll join professionals from a range of disciplines for on-campus and online study, benefitting not only from the extensive knowledge of the Clinical Doctorate team, but also from each other’s experiences. As a qualified Doctor of Nursing, Midwifery or Professional Health Studies you’ll have the highest level of academic qualification available within your specialism – placing you at the forefront of your profession as a recognised, highly employable clinical academic expert.

Healthcare professionals on the course could include: nurses, midwives, dieticians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, paramedics, speech and language therapists, podiatrists, sport psychologists and genetic counsellors.

Entry Requirements:

4 year Bachelor’s degree GPA of 2.6/4.0 or 60%

3 year Bachelor’s degree plus a 2 year Master’s degree with a GPA of 2.6/4.0 or 60% (in both Bachelor and Masters)

2 year Bachelor’s degree plus a 2 year Master’s degree with a GPA of 2.6/4.0 or 60% (in both Bachelor and Masters)

English Language Req:

If English isn’t your first language, you’ll need to demonstrate a minimum level of English language proficiency. We accept a variety of tests, details of the minimum grades we require can be found on our English Language Requirements page.

Submission of IELTS and other recognised English language tests may be waived on a case by case basis, if the medium of instruction at previous study was in English and within the last five years. We require an official letter from your university or college. Please note that this waiver does not apply for courses that require higher than an IELTS 6.0.

What qualifications do we accept?

We’ll continue to accept all of the following English language qualifications:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Some exams may be suspended in areas where local COVID-19 restrictions apply. Alternative (non-SELT) online tests we accept:
The University now also accepts four online English Language tests which can be presented as evidence of language proficiency. Applicants who require a Student visa and cannot obtain a Secure English Language Test (SELT) due to COVID-19 disruption to testing, can now submit any one of the following alternative tests with their degree application:
